Never Ask a Woman if She's Pregnant

Never ask a woman if she’s pregnant! The only time it is right to ask a woman if she is pregnant is if she is vocalizing her pregnancy or if she is wearing a shirt with words claiming her pregnancy such as “baby on board”.
Asking a woman if she is pregnant because she has a belly is rude and demeaning. Most women do not have flat bellies. Also, many women suffer with body image issues and suck in their stomach’s or wear under garments that hold in their belly and hips.
When you ask a women if she is pregnant because of her stomach size please think about how that might feel. She might have recently had a miscarriage, she might have just had an abortion, she might have just went through another unsuccessful infertility treatment, she might be bloated due to her time of the month, she might be on certain medications which have caused weight gain, she might have a medical condition such as PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, and other conditions, she might be going through menopause, she might have had surgery which caused stomach bloat. She just might NOT have a flat tummy and that is normal!
Would you stop a man to ask him about the size of his belly and why his stomach is round? I don’t think you would.
Stop demeaning women because they might not have a flat stomach or 6 pack abs. It’s insulting, it’s rude, and it makes a woman feel unfairly judged. That woman could have been having the best day of her life until you came along and asked her about her pregnancy when she is not pregnant.
This has happened to me in the past and I personally know how horrible it feels. I recently heard of this happening to a friend of mine and knew just how horrible she was feeling since I too have experienced that ignorant question.
As a person who had suffered body image issues in my teens and 20’s, and still have triggers in my 50’s, i know how horrible it feels to be questioned about a body part. Asking a woman “are you pregnant” when she is not is extremely insensitive and disrespectful.
I am making this post for you to think about the impact of your words before you speak them. If you do not know if a woman is pregnant or not then just don’t ask! It’s none of your business anyway.
Thanks
